Prof David Sines Vice President, Autism NI (PAPA)
Prof Sines while Head of School (Health Sciences) at the University of Ulster was involved in the first external (Independent) evaluation of an ASD Intervention in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland “evaluation of TEACCH” was commissioned by the Northern Ireland Dept of Health & Social Services as a pre-courser to allocating some funding on the basis of proven results.
With this initiative began within Autism NI an awareness of the powerful connection between researched need and the lobby for provision.
Prof Sines provided a monitoring role in those foundation years which
defined the Charity’s professional standing and credibility and which
has resulted in the catalogue of Research which is detailed in the Autism
NI’s publication
“A review of ASD Strategies & Practice in Northern Ireland”
and which has been in so effective developing Diagnostic & Early Intervention
(ASD) provision in Northern Ireland.
Prof Sines is Executive Dean of the Health Faculty at South Bank University, London.
