Donna Traynor
Autism NI is delighted to have Donna’s support as Patron. Donna Traynor's
role as anchor of BBC Newsline brings her into our homes every night, Monday
to Friday. Her success in presentation was reflected in 2001 when she received
a much sought-after award nomination from the Royal Television Society in
the Best Regional TV Presenter category. Donna spreads her wings when it
comes to broadcasting. She hosts the annual charity extravaganza BBC Children
in Need. In the highly rated TV programme Country Times, she travelled all
over Northern Ireland meeting people who do weird and wonderful things.
She has also presented the Balmoral Show, the Belfast Blitz and Music Live
as well as many education programmes. Donna Traynor's introduction to journalism
was with RTE in Dublin after her studies in Dublin and Lancashire. She then
joined the BBC in 1989. The award winning presenter has also been known
to let her hair down on screen, which has included singing and dancing for
her supper during such programmes as BBC NI's Making A Difference. Donna
is married to the broadcaster Ronan Kelly.
