Dr. Gary B. Mesibov
Dr. Gary B. Mesibov specialises in TEACCH, an internationally recognised state-wide program which is one of a kind in its pioneering approaches to service, treatment, training, research and the education of individuals with Autism. Within this programme, educational Strategies were created by examining neuropsychological differences in how people with ASD think, learn and understand compared to typical children and then developing teaching strategies compatible with these different ways of understanding and processing information. The resulting strategies have proven to be powerful in helping people with ASD to perform more effectively and successfully in educational and community-based settings. Dr Mesibov will describe those neuropsychological differences and demonstrate the educational strategies that have evolved to be compatible with people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
