Eileen Bell CBE
Legislative Advisor
Eileen Bell is a former Northern Ireland politician and former deputy leader of the Alliance Party. In 1986 she became General Secretary of the Alliance Party and in 1993 was elected to North Down Borough Council. She was later elected as one of two "top-up" members of the 1996 Northern Ireland Peace Forum and in the 1998 Northern Ireland Assembly elections won a seat in North Down. In June 2001 Eileen was appointed Deputy Leader of the Alliance Party and later became Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
As a long term supporter of Autism, Eileen is Vice President and now works as Legislation Advisor. In 2008, she was awarded a CBE for her public services work and contribution to the Northern Ireland Peace Process.
