Autism NI branches are structured with an annual AGM, bank accounts and branch committee. Branches also are engaged in fundraising and lobbying activities, awareness raising, education and information, parent support, links with professionals, and many parent representatives attend forums, working groups and steering groups in their local region.
Many branches organise activities in their local area, such as regular fundays, summer schemes, and outings. They often have speakers at their meetings from a variety of voluntary or statutory settings, providing information and educating parents and professionals on a variety of topics. These activities vary from area to area, and depending on the time of the year. The members involved in these Branches decide what is of interest locally and work together to achieve that. Many branches have library facilities for members to borrow books on Autism and other resources. Branch representatives often have links with a variety of other disability groups and forums in their area and are well informed about local services and professionals.

It is always advisable to speak to the main contact in a branch or parent support group before attending, in order to be aware of any temporary changes to meeting times, for the main contact to be aware that it is your first meeting, and to find out what is planned for that meeting.
