Autism NI South Down Branch.
The South Down Branch of Autism NI started in October 2005. We meet the first Tuesday evening of each month 7pm -9pm, in Ballybot House, Newry. We hold an art club the second Saturday of each month, 1:30pm - 3:30pm, for children on the autistic spectrum and their siblings in the Whitegates Community Centre, The Meadows,Newry.
We are actively involved in raising awareness of autism in the Southern Board area and educating parents and professionals in the field of autism by hosting major conferences in Newry featuring world renowned speakers.

We work with the Belfast Metropolitan College to enable parents and children to have access to a course in Primary Movement and we provide the necessary equipment for children to take part in the Listening Programme. We have an extensive library and a resource library for younger children but hope to expand this to include older children. We have been involved in the strong political and media campaign for an Autism Act, Autism Strategy and an Independent Programme of Care launched by Autism NI and the formation of the Celtic Autism Nations Union.
