Health Committee hold meeting at Autism NI

The first part of the Health, Social Services and Public Safety Committee’s itinerary included a visit to two supported housing services, Donard Murray and Alan Close in Newcastle, Co Down.  These supported living homes are managed by Autism Initiatives and accommodate adults diagnosed with ASD.  The purpose of the service is to support the tenants to live within the community and also to promote independent living.   The Committee then visited the headquarters of Autism NI where they were informed about the range of services that the Northern Ireland based Charity provides.  These include a parent support network, family support service, training and education courses, developmental research and also lobbying for a NI Autism Act.
