Synge & Byrne Support Local Autism Families
Autism NI and local coffee company Synge & Byrne at the Harvey Norman store on the Boucher Road have teamed-up for two charity evenings happening this April to celebrate World Autism Awareness Month.
On Thursday 19th April from 5pm – 7.30pm Synge & Byrne are holding an ‘Autism friendly’ evening for local parents to come along and enjoy afternoon tea, dinner or a coffee and some cake, as well as benefiting from the 15% discount that the Harvey Norman store is offering to all shoppers.
Then on Friday 20th April the coffee emporium will transform into an open mic afternoon from 4.30pm – 7.30pm. Local musicians including Newry lad Jack Devlin will be performing, with all donations to Autism NI.
Synge & Byrne Manager Gerard Murphy said: “Autism NI is a charity very close to my heart, and I am delighted to be able to support local families and the charity in this way. Our Synge & Byrne coffee shop is a great location for these events. With lots of space, we’ll be able to cater for families looking a quiet evening to shop or just to come along for some delicious foodie treats. We’ll have colouring for the children, with the lights dimmed, and the music off for a more calming environment for everyone.
“On the Friday afternoon shoppers can enjoy the music from the local musical talent, and I would encourage anyone looking to perform to please call down and help us to raise funds for Autism NI.”
Harvey Norman Store Manager Eamon McFadden said: “Gerard came to me with his idea and I was pleased to be able to help and support him. Our store already has a very relaxed feel to it, and we’d like to welcome local families who have individuals with Autism to come along and shop and enjoy the 15% discount running over the two evenings.”
Sarah-Jayne Cassells from Autism NI said: “It is wonderful to have local businesses approaching us to help and support families and Autism NI in this way. Both evenings will be very enjoyable, so come along, bring your family and enjoy a coffee and all there is on offer.”
