Hundreds Turn Out for Autism Awareness Month Celebration
On Sunday 7th April Autism NI hosted their Family Fun Day to celebrate World Autism Awareness Month at W5 Belfast. Autism is a lifelong disability that affects how a person communicates, interacts and ‘makes sense’ of the world around them.
Autism NI supports individuals and their families living with autism to become integrated and valued members of the community. In celebration of World Autism Awareness Month this April hundreds of families attended the Family Fun Day at W5 Belfast.
Autism NI CEO Kerry Boyd said: “It has been wonderful to see so many families across Northern Ireland coming together for our Family Fun Day in celebration of World Autism Awareness Month. W5 is the perfect venue for a lot of our autism families and it has been great to see our children playing together and enjoying all the fun interactive activities on offer.
Kerry continues, “It is vital that awareness is raised throughout Northern Ireland, especially within local communities as there is still a lot of misunderstanding around autism. By holding an event such as this, it gives people the chance to recognize and celebrate the autism community.”
Autism NI supports individuals and their families, and campaigns to raise awareness of Autism within the wider society. A local charity, it provides life-changing services for the 30,000 individuals living with Autism throughout Northern Ireland.
