Welcome to Autism NI Training Calendar
Autism NI’s Mission in brief is to “ensure that individuals with Autism and their carers are valued members of the community”. We achieve this through a bi-lateral approach of parent support and training for parents and professionals.
Autism NI’s training department team has a wealth of qualifications, expertise and experience. As well as drawing on the wide range of skills within our own professional team, we also have links and longstanding relationships with a consortium of local and international specialist trainers.
We are delighted to host a busy calendar of workshops, training and seminars to make this knowledge accessible to professionals and parents in Ireland and beyond. We also engage and support local experts as much as possible as part of our overarching strategy of developing “home grown” experts and a culture of excellence in ASD in Northern Ireland

CWA - Connecting With Autism through Play
A Positive Start for Life
The Connecting with Autism project, produced the ‘Rainbow Resource Kit’, and is Autism NI’s unique response to the question “What can I do for my child?” After an extremely successful CWA pilot program with a group of early years Autism professionals, the Rainbow Resource Kit was introduced and implemented with families across Northern Ireland. The CWA project continues through the training of early year’s professionals as CWA practitioners and the utilisation of the Rainbow Resource Kit within their daily work. This training aims to provide early years workers with an understanding of connecting through the medium of play with the young child with Autism. The Rainbow Resource Kit consists of a series of booklets, play and activity materials.

Family Support
The challenge for many parents post diagnosis is often finding out what relevant services there are locally, what resources have been useful to other parents, who the local professionals are, what they do and how to access further information or services. Many parents contact Autism NI and ask about local groups they can join.
Autism NI provides a range of family support training such as:
- ACCESS
- Discussion Workshops
- Grandparent workshops
- Autism & You training for carers
- Sibling Workshops
- SocialSkills Workshops
- Fathers Workshops
ACT offer a limited number of training courses with recognised qualifications and hope to incorporate more of their training courses with these recognised certificates, e.g. AQA qualifications.
These qualifications are open to all.
The Unit Award Scheme provides external accreditation of achievement and provides a route to support lifelong learning.
